How to remit money to India?

You can remit money to India both in U.S. Dollars as well as in local currency. Choose any one of the following ways to remit money to India:

Check Remittance - Check remittance is the cheapest method for remitting money to India. Personal cheques can be drawn in foreign currency or Indian money, payable at the place or bank of your choice. There is generally a probationary period of ten to fifteen days to credit checks to the beneficiary's account. In case you are planning a trip then it may be prudent to use a traveler's cheque.

Demand Drafts - Demand Drafts are relatively cheaper method to remit money to India. You can draw DD's both in Dollars and in Rupees. If you are drawing in Rupees the deposit can be immediately cashed by your beneficiary without any deductions. We do not charge fee for DDs drawn for amounts greater than Rupees Fifty Thousand.

Telegraphic / Wire Transfers - Telegraphic and wire transfers are considered as the quickest method to remit money to India. A wire transfer is done directly from your account to the beneficiaries account.

In most cases, we generally require the following information when you approach us in order to remit money to India (though details vary depending on the mode of remittance chosen):

  • Name of the beneficiary Bank/Branch
  • Name, address, account number of Beneficiary
  • Your (Remitter's) name and address
